Boise Voice: discussion of delivery by children in the neighborhood. holly: as a parent she thinks its a great idea. discussion re: needing adult supervision. sign up sheet circulated.

National Night Out 8/2/05: call for volunteers, committee has about 5 people on it. hopefully volunteers will stop by and learn how to run the games for children.

Chair Updates: dan: safety just had a good meeting. kay: transportation. city says the crosswalks are "in the pipeline" (at Miss and Failing). still awaiting approval on more bike racks.

Grocery Store/Co-op: nicole spoke on the clearly expressed community desire for a grocery store; threw out the idea of a community grocery co-op. general discussioin about the desirability of it. talk about trying to convince the NuRiteWay to become more neighborhood friendly, making more bread and milk sales instead of beer.
talk about the site at Fremont and Miss and the Fremont/WIlliams site. trader joes pulled out because its too close to their NW store, general agreement that they are fools. back to discussion about co-op, plug for big city produce, another plug for working with nurite way.

Item 5: L.P.'s idea to sponsor a community garden that they would buy produce from. Jason suggested hooking up with Trillium gardens. Holly suggested partnering with Trillium Alt. school to do the same.

Movie Discussion: NE Passage:

• n. asked nikki whether she stands by her "let gentrification come" statement
• yes, most of the changes
• martha asked: what about the displacement?
• some of that happened because families had the oppurtunity to sell. chris: census shows same number of African AMericans in the neighborhood, but greater density.
• kay: no matter what happens, Boise OFFICIALLY has more low income housing than almost any other portland neighborhood.
• children are being taught to see oppurtunities by the fact that we're mixed income
• chris: lets have low income housing int he West Hills and Lake Oswego
• neighbor: said he was not "vested" when he rented
